Back on August 9, I celebrated my 30th birthday. GASP! I'm leaving my twenties behind, and I am - officially old. I know everyone stresses about the thirties, but I am/was pretty okay with it. I'm much happier at 30 than I was at 20. I'm more confident (even though I'm 30 pounds heavier!), I like my husband more than I did on the first birthday we celebrated together, I have a home, gorgeous kids... I mean, I don't relate to 20 year olds anymore and that's a great thing! Been there, done that! =)
For my birthday my sister gave me pretty much the best gift ever - she took both of my kids from sun up to sun down! Adam let me sleep in and we took our time in the morning getting dressed and ready for our day. We haven't been to the movies in ages (further proof we're getting old!) and with a $10 rewards and coupon for a free drink burning a hole in my purse, we decided to see Guardians of the Galaxy. It was a great movie - well worth the high prices of movies these days! And of course, I LOVE me some movie theater popcorn!
After the movie we walked around the mall for a bit. We went to my favorite store only to find that my birthday coupon was not valid at the outlet. We went to quite a few different stores, but I never did find anything I liked and Adam was a 30 second browsing kind of shopper. Oh well! After walking the mall I was starting to get light-headed. This old lady needed to eat! I decided on Red Lobster just around the corner.
Since it was my birthday, I splurged and got the King crab. However, when it came out, it smelled funny and tasted a little funky. When the waiter came to ask how it was, I said it wasn't so bueno. He exchanged it out for snow crab and it was much better - not great, but better. Red Lobster was a bust. Except for the biscuits. Those never fail. Ever.
I may be technically mature now, but that doesn't mean I don't still need a party with the fam! After church the next day my parents made a yummy dinner and bought me my favorite dessert - cheesecake. We opened presents and a family and I got a lot of great photography goodies and things every mature woman asks for - fake nails and a cookie scoop, duh.
Overall it was a great weekend. Like I said, 30 ain't half bad. Ask me in 10 years how I feel about 40. Woof.
